Location is not a problem, near or far, we're committed to making it work for you.
You can study and gain qualifications while working in your local community.

Online Learning

Online learning offers you the flexibility to study and work at the same time from anywhere in Aotearoa New Zealand.

You will belong to an online community of learners, where you will learn alongside your peers, lecturers and pouako and gain access to the latest research and literature to inform your learning.

Field-based Learning

Field-based learning means that you will be required to work or volunteer two days a week in an ECE centre, home-based service or a school. This will be your home centre or school. This applies when studying towards a level 5 Diploma or teaching qualification.

Practicum

If you are studying a Bachelor of Teaching or Graduate Diploma of Teaching, you will also spend time in other early childhood education and care centres or schools, outside of your home centre or school. There you will gain professional experience, mentoring from associate teachers and visits from lecturers and pouako. Your practicum experience will prepare you to teach as soon as you gain your qualification, and to continue your progress towards achieving full registration.
